Mapping the Deadliest Avalanche of All-Time (2017)
For my university's Web GIS course, I mapped the extent of what is considered to be the deadliest avalanche of all time, which occurred near the tallest mountain in Peru and entirely buried the town of Yungay, killing around 20,000 people. That avalanche has become known as the 1970 Huascarán Avalanche. I digitized the extent from a hand-drawn diagram found in a geological journal. I also created a Story Map to present the history of the disaster.
