Panthera Tiger Maps (2018)
During my final semester at the University of Montana, I was selected by my Advanced Cartographic Design professor to participate in a special project. My professor, Kevin McManigal, was contracted by Panthera, the big cat conservation corporation, to create detailed topographic maps of various habitat zones. Our team designed a series of map sheets depicting tiger habitat in and around Taman Negara National Park in Malaysia. Our maps aided park rangers and conservation workers to find and arrest poachers. This team had eight cartographers, which taught me valuable lessons about research and planning, coordination, and communication.
